Egypt & Iraq sign 12 cooperation agreements across multiple sectors

The first agreement is a proposed cooperation protocol between Egypt and Iraq in the field of local development.

Egypt and Iraq have signed 12 cooperation agreements following an expanded session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee, marking a new phase of collaboration between the two nations.

The first agreement is a proposed cooperation protocol between Egypt and Iraq in the field of local development.

The second document outlines a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on standardization and quality control, signed between Iraq’s Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control and Egypt’s General Authority for Standards and Quality.

The third MoU focuses on grain storage and silo management, signed between Egypt’s Holding Company for Silos and Storage and Iraq’s State Company for Grain Trade, aiming to exchange expertise in construction, operation, and maintenance of grain silos.

The fourth agreement involves land transportation of passengers and goods, signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Transport and its Iraqi counterpart.

The fifth MoU was signed between Egypt’s Ministry of Culture, the National Library and Archives, and Iraq’s Ministry of Culture, the House of Books and Documents, strengthening collaboration in the preservation and exchange of cultural materials.

The sixth document focuses on cooperation in archaeology and museums, signed between Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities and Iraq’s General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities.

The seventh agreement establishes an executive program for cultural cooperation between the Egyptian and Iraqi Ministries of Culture for 2025-2027.

The eighth MoU fosters cooperation between Baghdad Municipality and Cairo Governorate, aiming to enhance urban development and municipal services.

The ninth agreement strengthens financial market regulation, signed between Iraq’s Securities Commission and Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority, ensuring improved supervision and oversight of financial markets.

The tenth MoU enhances cooperation in telecommunications and information technology, signed between Iraq’s Communications and Media Commission and Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

The eleventh agreement was signed between the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, aiming to boost trade relations and economic cooperation.

The twelfth and final MoU focuses on competition protection and anti-monopoly practices, signed between Egypt’s Competition Protection Authority and Iraq’s Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council, to promote fair market competition and prevent monopolistic practices.

At the conclusion of the session, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani formally signed the minutes of the third session of the Egyptian-Iraqi Joint Higher Committee, reinforcing the commitment to bilateral cooperation.
